Where was #1 taken Marty, I don't recognize the area at all?

South of the downtown where they were constructing a freeway with the light-rail already running.

That first photo shows barren land being transformed in Highway 87, I believe, south of downtown.  Good little freeway for us truck drivers trying to do too many deliveries with too little time over too big an area!

Yes, that is Highway 87 under construction.  The view is looking south from Almaden Expressway (or at least that is what it is called today, don't know about back then).  The Caltrain/UP tracks are just out of view to the left.

I would venture that shot #1 is actually looking north from the Capitol Expressway overcrossing, in other words, over the hill from where you called it.

I have to be looking south from where I stated earlier.  The background and curvature matches, but the one thing that confirms it is the short third track in the middle.  There is no third track at the Capitol Expressway.

Yeah, you're right. Gad, I'd say that I'm losing it, but it was gone along time ago.

That's the North side Of Communication Hill....looking south from the Almaden Expressway over crossing...Capitol Expressway is on the other side of the hill...on the other side of the cut
