Nostalgia & History > Western Pacific 806A on I St. Bridge SacramentoDate: 06/25/15 21:21 Western Pacific 806A on I St. Bridge Sacramento Author: MarkMeoff Remember the Trains Unlimited Tours of the California Zephyr over Donner Pass in early 2000something? My buddy was one of the engineers on that trip. They had to stop on the I st. bridge for a signal and he hopped off and snapped this picture.

Kent in CArmel Valley Date: 06/26/15 09:01 Re: Western Pacific 806A on I St. Bridge Sacramento Author: rschonfelder The trip was 2004 and went from Oakland to Reno for the WP convention. I flew up from Melbourne Australia to ride the train and paid for a Dome seat both ways. Trains Unlimited under sold the return trip so they discounted and filled it up. The problem was that he re-sold the seat that he had sold me and I got on at the Reno station while the discounted people got on in Sparks. There you have my reference for Chris Skow's company and how it was run. So much for ever wanting to do one of his South American trips.
Still, I really enjoyed that WP convention and I made some new friends there. Rick |
