appreciate those with more Chicago experience than I confirming this. Since the BRC Alco's were commonly used on transfers, I would think that's what that train was. I wouldn't hazard a guess on the IHB train. The sound appears to have been dubbed onto this tape. In the first clip you'll notice the engines rev up, but the sound never changes. The second clip sounds way more Alco than EMD. That aside, this was an interesting video, and I thought the cut of CNW grain hoppers interesting as this probably wouldn't happen today. Thanks for posting. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 07/07/15 14:59 Re: Bellwood, IL. Author: kevink ntharalson Wrote:

The Harbor job is southbound. > Since the BRC Alco's were commonly used on > transfers, I would think > that's what that train was. I wouldn't hazard a > guess on the IHB train. BRC's Alcos were regulars on the transfers to and from Proviso. The Harbor train could be a transfer from the Soo at Schiller Park or Bensenville, the CNW or even an IHB train out of Norpaul Date: 07/07/15 19:01 Re: Bellwood, IL. Author: zoohogger I'm Ok with the sound. I detect a change in RPM around .24 to coincide with the increase in the exhaust. Not much change, but Alcos are like that. EMDs, I'm not sure if they're idling or in run 4 or 5, but there is a lot of freight car noise going on at the same time, must have some good mufflers.
