Southern Railway train No. 5, the Piedmont, is bound for Atlanta at Orange, Va., behind a quartet of FP-7 diesels.  It's Saturday, December 18, 1971.

This photo just has so much in it; its great!
Loved the Southern.
Lived in NC June 1972-December 1976 and enjoyed seeing and photographing the Piedmont on many occasions.
