Nostalgia & History > West End of EL's Kent YardDate: 09/29/15 18:46 West End of EL's Kent Yard Author: refarkas The west end of the EL's Kent, Ohio yard could be a staging area for westbound traffic as seen in this late 1960's/early 1970's image. Both EL and D&H power head up their respective trains. At the time run-through D&H power could come in all D&H lashups or be mixed with EL power as in this image.
What good memories this photo brings to mind! Bob Date: 09/29/15 20:04 Re: West End of EL's Kent Yard Author: TRACKENGR Way cool. F-units, Sd's and D&H U-Boats. That screams 70's.
Steve Date: 09/29/15 20:15 Re: West End of EL's Kent Yard Author: Out_Of_Service that trackwork is in extremely good shape for a supposedly heading to bankruptcy railroad ...

Date: 09/30/15 11:49 Re: West End of EL's Kent Yard Author: pal77 Yes two middle tracks are the mains. During the Dereco years EL and DH were in reasonably good shape and were able to keep good schedules, as compared to PC of that time. Which I suspect is why EL won a lot of the UPS and other time traffic that filled out trains 99&100. Kent was a division point on the EL but the hot shots need not stop here as the interdivisional crews kept on going to Marion and Meadville in the respective directions.
