Loveland, CO - Great Western Fall 1977
Author: train1275

1. On the way from Windsor to Loveland I stopped by Johnstown and shot through the chain link fence at this scene with a GW 44 tonner.

2. Arriving in Loveland the 121 and 122 were switching the west end of the yard and making some nice EMD noise in the process. It was beet season and things were pretty busy.

3. A closer view of the two switchers back in "Goofy & Worthless" days.

All of these scenes were taken November 22, 1977

A view on 11-22-77 looking east into the GW facility with the old enginehouse just right of center. Many changes over the years from this chilly November day almost thirty eight years ago as this is posted.

I was back to Loveland on December 14, 1977 and found one of the GW dinkies at the beet dump but I have no idea which one this might have been.

When I returned here in 2000 to work for OmniTRAX at the Loveland shop we had some old DRGW GP-30's parked in this area and the surroundings were beginning to look more like suburbia.
