Nostalgia & History > WABAC Wednesday 24/ A Last Look at the WPRR NavyDate: 11/20/15 10:01 WABAC Wednesday 24/ A Last Look at the WPRR Navy Author: BoilingMan I shot these in 1982. This is the Western Pacific's car ferry Las Plumas now retired and awaiting fate in Oakland.
(I think she ended her days a barge on the Puget Sound) SR Date: 11/20/15 10:01 Re: WABAC Wednesday 24/ A Last Look at the WPRR Navy Author: BoilingMan Date: 11/20/15 12:22 Re: WABAC Wednesday 24/ A Last Look at the WPRR Navy Author: TCnR I don't quite remember the details but I thought this ship moved up to Alaska somewhere and was outfitted with buildings on the deck to process or can 'fish'. Rather ignamonious ending but I would guess it wasn't going to make the trip to the ship breakers in Chittagong.
+ post from 10 years ago that says it's in Vancouver as a flat deck car ferry/barge: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,859250,860034#msg-860034 Edited 1 time(s). Probably safe to say she went to "Points North" and after that?
All I ever knew for certain was that one day I went back for more photos and she was gone! SR Date: 11/20/15 19:59 Re: WABAC Wednesday 24/ A Last Look at the WPRR Navy Author: mp51w Those are all excellent B&W photos.

Walter Date: 11/21/15 07:21 Re: WABAC Wednesday 24/ A Last Look at the WPRR Navy Author: nedzarp Las Plumas went to Vancouver, BC. Superstructure and rails removed. Became Sea-Link 100. Was involved in a collision with a fishing boat in 1993. Al 6 fishermen lost their lives when their boat capsized. Sea Link 100 was slightly damaged. I don't know if she is still around.
