I saw those sights a number of times at the CN&W Chicago station growing up in the 50s. Living in Milwaukee, my dad would take me on business trips with him on trips that coincided with school vacation. His preferred conveyance to Chicago was always the C&NW. One of his co-workers would meet us at the station and they'd do whatever business they needed to do (viewing/re-viewing locations for possible new gas stations) and we'd take the train back, usually arriving in Milwaukee about 5:30-6:00PM.
