Switcher Saturday Great Falls, Montana
Author: lamta_jay

August 1970 Great Falls Yard. #1-2 This was my first roll of
35mm film called  Ektacolor. Had a ASA of 160. I did
not know at the time it was an indoor type film.
#3 was taken with High Speed Ektachrome

When was the BN merger official ?

Everything  has a BN road #

Thanks for looking

Jay

Merger date was 3/2/70:

The renumbering process occurred quickly, the repainting took longer.

It was definitely March 2, 1970.  I was there.

The BN merger partners had developed their locomotive renumbering plan years before the actual merger took place, so they knew exactly what locomotive would have what number from day one.  And they had all the locomotives painted green within seven or eight years of the merger date.
