  Yeah, but it looks strange to me in those colors. By the time I was old enout to remember it, it was already in UP paint. Here is the only picture I ever took of it, Sealh, Wa., Christmas week 1978. Not sure what a railroad, who's primary source of revenue was the apple harvest, was doing out in the middle of winter. Had I any inkling, then, that the YVT would be all but completely erased now, I would have taken more pictures, I'm sure.

YVT bought 298 new.  The backup motor was 297, which came from the Glendale & Montrose after the freight service was taken over by UP in 1930.  UP maintained the electric operation until 1942, when they got permission to run diesels.  In 1985, 297 went to Orange Empire Ry. Museum, where, if the light is right, one can make out the G&M lettering under the UP paint.
