Nostalgia & History > Wild Coal Train Power Lash-up at Helper, Utah • Nov. 15, 1998Date: 04/26/16 10:35 Wild Coal Train Power Lash-up at Helper, Utah • Nov. 15, 1998 Author: GrandeGold This is one of the wildest power lash ups I've witnessed on a UP coal train in Utah. UP SD40-2 No. 3761, NS SD50S No. 6501, NS C36-7 No. 8519, NS GP59 No. 4609, and NS C40-8 No. 8755.
Not a single comfort cab engine in sight! • Helper, Utah • Nov. 15, 1998 Thanks for looking, James Belmont Salt Lake City, UT Date: 04/26/16 11:19 Re: Wild Coal Train Power Lash-up at Helper, Utah • Nov. 15, 19 Author: OregonOldGuy Could this have been coke to Geneva? There had been trainloads of coke going to Geneva from way back east. There were many of them in the 1990s. this would have either been empties or reladed with Utah coal.

If so, it would be the CGVNS. A very good chance you nailed it. When those Coke trains ran over Tenn. Pass, you didn't see very much NS power on them.
