On the 2 marker lights (red over green) on the cupola-to the right of the red P facing the catwalk and ladder:  What was the green light used for?

I'm not sure. I don't think I've ever seen one with the green light lit. The only thing I can think of is maybe when you're shoving with the cab on the point.-BMT

Red fouling or occuping the main track. Green in the Clear when being approached by a following train.

These are great. Cabooses were a great time in railroading.  My Dad used UP 25657 in Salina KS according to his Conductor's Book.

Wasn't the "P" for it being a "pooled" caboose that is assigned to ANY regular train crew and not just one crew only? (such as locals)

The pool cabooses were meant to run anywhere on the system and other railroads as the case may have been. Some of UPs older cabooses didn't have self contained toilets and were banned in some states. California was one of those states. Most cabooses were swapped out in Las Vegas before getting to Cali, but many times they travelled through but could not be used here.-BMT
