.   .   .   few more Santa Fe around Kansas City area on my summer '74 visit;
top: Eastbound Santa Fe PC runthrough "Streator connection" train near Cement City. The only shot I ever took of a Santa Fe U25B leading.
middle: Eastbound Sheffield crossing Kansas City, MO.

The summer of 1974 was a memorable one for me. My first RR service came that summer in the form of M.O.W. labor. While you were shooting here on the east side of KC I was toting ties & driving spikes in the Morris ~ Holliday ~ Olathe area on the west side. After seeing nothing but GP-7s & F-units in Abilene, KS in my growing up years I received a visual education and a very enjoyable "wake-up call" to the real, big-time railroading that was the Santa Fe in the early 1970s.

That 3rd shot is pretty interesting, what the heck is the trailing unit? Ah the wonders of variety!

Amazing photos, I had no idea the U25Bs lasted until the Yellowbonnet era.

Is that THIRD U25B a dirty Santa Fe or a Penn Central unit?  Conrail was a few years away. It might be the NYC U25B that made it all the way to Conrail in NYC lettering! TFV

Don't recall, PC or NYC, one of the two.
