Nostalgia & History > milk carsDate: 05/28/16 18:51 milk cars Author: hldtrains I have seen pictures of milk cars (obviously from years ago) that remind me of a trapezoid shape, sloped in at each end of the car. What is the purpose of that shape rather than a standard tank car shape. Milk in ten gallon cans would be shipped in ordinary refrigerator cars, but these cars must have been for bulk shipments. Just curious.
Thanks in advance. hld Date: 05/28/16 20:32 Re: milk cars Author: hogheaded I'm guessing that you are referring to a standard "house" car with sloping ends? In this case, it is likely enclosing a tank.
