That was on huge trestle. You still find where it once stood. When was the photo taken? In the fifties? In today's world you wouldn't leave an abandoned trestle with easy access to the public.

Plenty still in the West.

I would like to know if the trestles where made of redwood. Would like to find some clear wood for prodjects

CPRR - there was some of that old growth Redwood available when they removed the timber tunnel linings on the southern end of the Siskiyou line.   There was an article in the Medford or Ashland newspaper several years ago about a guy who was making violin's out of that wood.  I don't know if it is still available.   Sphogger.
