Nostalgia & History > Diesels marked RADIO EQUIPPEDDate: 06/27/16 07:19 Diesels marked RADIO EQUIPPED Author: TCRT1300 MartyBernard posted a neat shot of an SP Fairbanks-Morse switcher...
http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4061074,4061074#msg-4061074 ...which reminds me of how much I always like engines with RADIO EQUIPPED and a little lightning bolt emblazoned on them. When I was a lad I noticed it on NP engines in St Paul MN and immediately liked it. When you're a little boy who's nuts about trains but don't know much about how they work, it was gratifying to gain information about the mysteries. I could announce "That one has a two-way radio" when a NP freght went by (I knew about two-way radios from watching Vic Morrow use one on "Combat"). I know that the D&H and Erie Lackawanna used RADIO EQUIPPED, what other railroads used it? I think some roads had it on cabooses as well. Date: 06/27/16 08:25 Re: Diesels marked RADIO EQUIPPED Author: navarch2 NYC used a version of it as well early-on.

Date: 06/27/16 09:09 Re: Diesels marked RADIO EQUIPPED Author: HotWater The DL&W had "F Units" and cabooses labeled for "Radio Equipped", well back in the mid 1950s and into the Erie-Lackawanna merged era.
