Nostalgia & History > Hotshot into a frosty sunsetDate: 07/01/16 07:16 Hotshot into a frosty sunset Author: santafe199 How’s your weather? Is it HOT in your neck-o-the-woods? Is that humidity just plain oppressive? Have ya got the Summertime Blues? Here’s a scene that oughtta cool ya down a few notches! Just imagine riding in this waycar behind Santa Fe’s flagship train 188. You’ll be rolling along at what we Kansas Gangsters used to call: “On the GO, at SEVEN-OH!” Translated, that’s 70 MPH. It might be an enjoyable ride IF… the windows & doors on your waycar seal up halfway decently. IF… that diesel stove down below is working properly. And IF… you don’t have to go out and check out some mechanical defect along the way.
Enjoy that salmon-hued sunset while you can! What little heat that sun is providing will be gone in a few precious minutes… 1. AT&SF waycar 999544 trails 10-Packer train 188 F-1 through the cross-over plant at Merrick on the west side of Emporia, KS on February 6, 1982. Thanks for looking back!
