Nostalgia & History > Temple, TX Program Scheduled for Saturday, September 10Date: 08/29/16 20:26 Temple, TX Program Scheduled for Saturday, September 10 Author: Eagle22 The South Central States Chapter of the Railroad and Locomotive Historical Society will explore Steam Railroading with Mr. Bradley Linda of Waco, on Saturday, September 10 at 2 pm on the 3rd floor of the Temple Public Library. Please call Jeremy at 254-773-4759 for more information on the chapter or program.
Union Pacific’s steam locomotive #844 ,based in Cheyenne, Wyoming, led a special 150th Anniversary train through Central Texas to Houston in 2012, concluding a 13,000 mile nationwide tour commemorating Union Pacific Railroad’s beginning on July 1, 1862 with the signing of the Pacific Railway Act by President Lincoln. Mr. Linda documented part of that trip with photos. He will also include his award winning photos of two former Southern Railroad steam engines ( 4501, a 2-8-2, and 630, a 2-8-0) which pulled a 2015 Norfolk Southern passenger special in Georgia. Both locomotives are owned and maintained by the Ft. Wayne Railroad Historical Society and the Tennessee Valley Railroad Historical Society. Bonus coverage of steam along the Texas State Railroad in Palestine will also be included in the program. Date: 08/29/16 20:34 Re: Temple, TX Program Scheduled for Saturday, September 10 Author: ssw A couple of clarifications: First, both Southern engines are owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, and neither locomotive is associated with the Ft. Wayne society. The trip was the Nov. 2014 doubleheader, operated by TVRM and wasn't an NS excursion
Hope to see some of you there Bradley Linda Waco, TX |
