Nostalgia & History > Texas Chief lunch counter diner questionDate: 09/28/16 16:33 Texas Chief lunch counter diner question Author: UP951West When I rode the TX Chief in Dec. ,1969 there was either a lunch counter diner or a dorm/ lunch counter diner ? Which type was most often used on ATSF 15/16 ?
Thank you . --Kelly Date: 09/28/16 17:16 Re: Texas Chief lunch counter diner question Author: The_Chief_Way According to Frailey, the Texas Chief ran in two sections 4 days a week in the '69-'70 holiday
season ( second section ran Chicago to Purcell ). The Houston section had both Hi-Level and conventional chair cars, followed by a lunch counter-diner-dorm ( 1570, 71, 74, 76 assigned ) a full dome-bar-lounge-dorm ( 550 series assigned ) a 46 seat diner and then the sleepers. Hope this helps. Date: 09/29/16 10:27 Re: Texas Chief lunch counter diner question Author: d500 Does anyone have some interior photos of the lunch counter diners that they can post? Thanks
