Who Remembers the Iowa RR Co?
Author: MILW86A

The Iowa RR was the predecessor to the Iowa Interstate. The RR started in Atlantic in 1981 just operating Council Bluffs to Stuart at first, then in May 1982 got a lease from the RI Trustee to operate it to Bureau til IAIS came in October of 1984.

Here at Atlantic Iowa is Train 1 with former IC GP28 9437 leading another ex IC and a BN SD7 on July 14 1983. Photographer unknown from my collection.

I remember it well.  Nice shot and post of another fallen flag railroad.

Hello,

Here are a couple of dispatcher's turnovers from around that time.  Looks like the power on your train was probably 9437-9430-BN/FWD 6088 or 6084.

Take care,

Mark

Thank you Mark. Was hoping you can add some information to this thread. It was an interesting outfit for sure.

Trying to figure out the lineage of SW9 #11. Somehow the piping on the main reservoir smacks of MILW but the number '535' in the headlight wings
doesn't match.

Couple shots of the IRRC's U30Bs awating their fate:

1.  #25 at Silvis, 8/82.
2. #s 21, 24, 22, and 20 at Council Bluffs, 9/85.

I am pretty sure that the 11 was a former Milw unit.  I know it was painted at Rock Island
by the car foreman (who ran a body shop on the side).  He used main res. air for his sprayer.
When IRRC started operating to Bureau, I was hired as the second trick Agent/clerk/etc. at
Rock Island (Milan actually, we started in the depot there).
