Friday F (45)
Author: march_hare

One fine morning in 1991, I awoke in the Motel 6 in Mojave, CA to a rip roaring sunrise.  Outside, an odd sight was waiting for me.

This isn't a really short intermodal with only one unit.  It's actually a rear end helper.

You mean to say you actually got some sleep at the Motel 6 there in beautiful downtown Mojave? Between the trains, the trucks and wind in that area, don't think I ever got much if any rest at that motel, but it was fun to experience the 'noise' for one night. Just too bad the SP isn't around anymore to run some actual trains on those tracks, as compared to the small numbers the UP runs on that line now.

There used to be another eb Santa Fe intermodal train that would go through there a little earlier in the morning, and it always had a mid-train helper on it. Big train for an intermodal, but I don't have any idea what the symbol was back then.

Enjoyed the photo.
