I'm pretty sure the photo of the Milwaukee Road SW1 was taken in Milwaukee near the passenger depot. Date: 12/03/16 14:16 Re: SS: let's make it a dozen SW1's Author: cabman I like the Western Pacific SW1 the best. They weren't ashamed of who they were and showed it with that large logo on the cab and extra blurb on the hood. What other railroad ever tooted its horn that well?

It was converted to burn propane and was the shop goat at Alliance, NE until 2001: http://donsdepot.donrossgroup.net/dr1891.htm http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,51672 http://www.greatnorthernempire.net/index2.htm?GNEGNDieselRosterSW1.htm valmont Wrote: > 1 & 2 no info ... but he NYC lettering almost > looks like it has red outlining That's a scanner artifact that sometimes shows up at high-contrast edges when you try to lighten a scan of a dark slide. The very bright white ends up bleeding over into the very dark black around it. Note that the cab window shade and the bottom of the fuel tank also have "red outlining" for the same reason.
