BB: MILW Joe's E72, E20 in old paint 1963

July 26, 1963 @ Deer Lodge, MT was a good day for Bruce Black to be there ... he shot this pair of Joe's in old paint, freight #E72 and passenger #E20.

 Did Bruce bang off a whole roll of Kodachrome?  Bruce loved the Milwaukee Road.   Appreciate you sharing his fine collection.

First, nice shot, thanks for posting.

Now a question: Did any of the "Joes" get UP yellow paint? I know at least
one, maybe more, of the bi-polar electrics got painted, but I was curious about
the "Joes." TIA for any info.

No Joes were desecrated with yellow paint. The two passenger Joes, E20 and E21 were needed in freight service so bipolars and diesels pulled the yellow passenger trains.

They were all in the diesel orange and black before 1969. That is the best I can do.
