A few weeks after the wooden sheds protecting the Norden Station and switches burnt to the ground, X6342 East ducks into the concrete sheds that survived the fire.

Most interesting photo.  Took a real commitment to get out in that kind of weather.

In high school in the 1970's I went skiing near Nordon under similar conditions.  In fact our Davis Sr. High School ski team practiced at Soda Springs or Boreal Ridge, memory is a little fuzzy on tha name - a pretty small ski resort.  It would have been SD45's and tunnel motors at that time, however, excellent shot of the F unit - really captures the high Sierra winter environment.
