Three more treasures. Number one is the first photo I have seen of a black C&O with white lettering.

Wow!  All great.  Not many good color shots of C&O zebra striped F's.

per #1,  years ago I saw a photo of an FP-7 (#8000) and learned it was a short lived, experimental safety scheme.  Didn't realize that it was applied to another unit(s).  I even made an HO version after seeing a photo in a book titled C&O Early Diesels on p. 33.   No longer have the book so can't reference author or publisher.  No longer have the model, either.

Pic. 3 doesn't look like Aurora, IL to me. The coach yard on the north end of town was lower than the elevated mainline. It doesn't look like area down by the Aurora station either. One of the coaches appears to be lettered "PULLMAN" so perhaps that's another clue.

Must be Chicago, I can see the Merchandise Mart in the backgound.

When a car is lettered "Pullman" it ain't a coach.

Lincoln, Nebraska.
There is online a very nice image of steam 5626 and photo labeled Lincoln Nebraska and the Merchandise Mart appears in the background as in the above photo.
Collection of Chuck Zeller.

PHOTO 1 COMMENT
Per Page 318 of C&O Power Copyright 1965 by Alvin F. Staufer, in 1961 C&O started using the black scheme with zebra striping to save money.  The scheme was applied to several GPs, F7s, and FP7s before it was discontinued in 1962.  A b&w photo of #8001 is included.

PHOTO 3 COMMENT
Agree with Bob Jordan.
See the Lower Front Cover Photo by Dick Rumbolz on Burlington Route Color Pictorial Volume 1 by Alfred J.J. Holck published by Four Ways West. This photo was described as being that of an eastbound manifest at Lincoln NE in August 1957. It is obvious this photo is of the same series as the photo you have posted. So now you have the location, month, and year.

Cool...a C&O F3 doing an impression of an early Santa Fe road switcher!

Have added photographer's name to my Photo 3 Comment.  They are the same.  No doubt your posted photo was taken at Lincoln NE in August 1957.

Really like the third image.  First time I've seen a photo of silver CB & Q Fs on a freight.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT PHOTO 3
CB&Q had three ABA F3 passenger sets #9960ABC - #9962ABC.  They did not have dynamic brakes as did CB&Q's freight F3s.  Sometime after they were withdrawn from passenger service, they were painted into the freight scheme but retained their original "passenger" numbers.

Not the Merchandise Mart, which was (and is) surrounded by significant commercial development, with many high-rises adjacent and nearby.  That structure is sitting out by itself.
