Nostalgia & History > C&O Freight Arriving Louisville Jan 1972Date: 01/22/17 09:41 C&O Freight Arriving Louisville Jan 1972 Author: krm152 This is a continuation of my first photos I started taking during 1971 with my Instamatic X35 on Kodacolor X film.
On the very dreary late afternoon of Sunday, January 23, 1972, I was passing by the PC (ex NYC) Preston St Yd in Louisville at the same time the C&O freight was arriving. The C&O used trackage rights over the L&N from Lexington to reach Louisville but terminated their trains at PC (ex NYC) Preston St. Yard in Louisville. The C&O actually owned a very short stretch of track, about 1/4 -1/2 mile, to get from L&N’s trackage to PC’s Preston St. Yd.
