1961 over Labor Day weekend,  we took a trip to Avery, Idaho where this photo was taken. It was an rare opportunity for my Dad to show the changing state of power at that time.

U25B's and GP30's were hot stuff back then!

The Milwaukee GP30's were not built until 1963 and the U25B's were not built until 1965.  Could this be 1966 ?

More likely that "1" is a "7".

Love this Avery photo.   You don't happen to have a photo of the entire consist behind the 390 do you?   There aren't that many photos of the U25B's and GP30's being mixed like that on the PCE floating around so this is a real gem.

By 1969 the main line power was GP40s in the 2000 series. The U Boats were 5000 and 5500 series and worked out of Tacoma. GP30s went east as 1000 power.

The Joes and GP9s remained unchanged.

These were still pretty good times for a financially stressed railroad.
