BB: Red Dawn ... well a little later ... on the C&S 1971

Heading north a few miles out of Boulder, CO with a Chinese Red trio looking very bright in the morning sun. Date was Aug. 18, 1971 @ milepost 36.25. Power was C&S #883, 837, 884.

Nice !!  That same morning (August 18, 1971) I was over in Windsor on the Greeley branch under the same dark leaden skies photographing Duke Hollman notching out the 840 leaving  town for Greeley (obviously with a far inferior camera and photography skills).

This was during the period of the Union Pacific strike and the Greeley branch was pretty busy.

I always liked those C&S (Q) SD40's. Some on the Q-proper would have been nice. The SD45's would have looked great in chineese red! Thanks for sharing BB's great shot.
