With the merge of the MONON into the Family Lines, L&N GP-30 No.1036 is approching State Line tower and the CW&I, westward into ILL.
Its May 1972. Hammiond In.

Check out that nice new ballast!  Photos like this are timeless, especially with the semaphore (missing a few lenses)
and the sharp power.  That now-gone roadbed may see trains again.  The NICTD South Shore Extension has big plans
for that area, including a line to Dyer along the Monon.
