Roger Puta Playing With Light and MUNI PCCs
Author: MartyBernard

I was scanning my way through a stack of Roger Puta slides when I came upon just four of MUNI PCC Cars dated December 1980.  It's pretty clear Roger was out one winter afternoon in San Francisco playing with the setting sunlight.  I know you are going to like these.

The fourth car is a double ender.  But all Muni PCCs had a front pole for backup moves.  Note how the front trolley pole rope, best seen in the third photo, is wrapped behind the left outside rear view mirror.  Car 1019's front pole does not seem to have a rope.

1. MUNI 1019 rolled N CONNECTS WITH L  46th-ZOO.  Steve Souza commented I believe the K-Ingleside was slowly being transferred to the Boeing LRVs. This car is inbound, on 19th Ave, approaching Eucalyptus.

2. MUNI 1109, a M OCEAN VIEW BROAD TO PLYMOUTH car outbound on 19th Avenue by Font and Holloway.

3. MUNI 1130, another M OCEAN VIEW BROAD TO PLYMOUTH car.  Steve Souza commented, entering the outbound PROW on 19th Avenue. Eucalyptus is behind the car, and it's approaching Winston.

4. MUNI 1014, a double ended PCC that Roger's lens caught often, rolled that afternoon as a L TARAVAL 46th - ZOO car.  Steve Souza commented, inbound on 19th Avenue at Winston. This car is now in Sydney and has been restored.

Enjoy,
Marty Bernard

Per our old BAERA--WRM member Rolf St.Clair Augustine,  whenever you ride an "M"-car past Holloway and the emergency CROSS-over at Banbury (alley way), it's like "Riding a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross" ...

SR, in the 1980s he was living in San Francisco.  I posted some photos here:  http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4204740,4204740#msg-4204740

Hmmmm...
Sorry, guess I miss that when it came around.
All the same, the man was nothing if not prolific!

Carry on
