Vaughn, N M
Author: tomstp

It is Sept 14, 1984 as a Santa Fe trailer on flat car  train is passing over the SP approaching the siding at Vaughn.  Despite the date, it is a foggy and cool morning as John McCall aimed his camera at the approaching trains.  And, now BNSF has double tracked the area making a different looking scene.

You took that shot just two weeks after my six month's tenure as an SP trainman there ended. You've well caught the wild, lonely nature of the territory. Nice work!

Are these trains westbound or eastbound?

Both these trains are eastbound.  And this is certainly a different angle, one I don't
think I'd have tried, from the usual Vaughn angles.  Thanks for posting.

Such a great photo--rare vantage point, gritty, barren, both lines being used.  Rare and great.
