Plate 3766 is a foldout that I had to divide in order to copy. This diagram is of the standard FTA &FTB arrangement offered by EMD. The A and B were each 48'3" in length with the overall combined length of the two units being 96'6".
Hope you find this interesting. ALLEN Date: 03/26/17 11:27 Re: EMD FTA & FTB General Arrangement Diagram Plate 3766 Author: ts1457 Thanks, that clears up the issue of the original battery locations.

Kept the "Fireman" pretty busy back in those days. Date: 03/26/17 17:02 Re: EMD FTA & FTB General Arrangement Diagram Plate 3766 Author: CPR_4000 HotWater Wrote:

Kept the "Fireman" pretty busy back in those days. True also for E units through the E7, no? I was always surprised that the cooling fans on the very early EMC's weren't turned on and off by thermostats. Seems simple enough. No. Even the E3, E6, and E7 units all had electric cooling fans with ETS, i.e. Engine Temperature Switch control.
