Nostalgia & History > NYC steam in LaSalle Street Station?Date: 03/28/17 06:21 NYC steam in LaSalle Street Station? Author: NKP779 With the forthcoming JOLIET ROCKET behind NKP 2-8-4 765 in June, an obvious question arises about what was the last New York Central steam locomotive in LaSalle Street Station. The streamlined Dreyfuss J3a Hudsons were bumped in 1947(?) by EMD E-units. Were there any lowly steam switch engines still in service after that, or on the lesser passenger trains?
