Old AT&SF train crews, based out of Chillicothe, IL and Fort Madison, IA worked between Chicago and Fort Madison. CHicago based engineers worked to and from Fort Madison and the Fort Madison based firemen worked to and from Chicago in the bottom shot.

Randy Lundgren Elgin, TX Date: 03/29/17 18:44 Re: Warbonnets on Wednesday Author: DNRY122 Since Fort Madison was mentioned, here are some photos taken from Amtrak 18 in Sept. 1971. I was on my way from San Bernardino to Chicago, where I fulfilled the goals of riding the South Shore Line, CTA Evanston Express, the Rock Island Line, among other quests. In the first we have a Warbonnet U-28CG leading another U-boat and a GP-20 on a freight that will cross the Mississippi River after we do.
And here's our train, with a matched set of ABBA Warbonnets, about to leave the area of the Louisiana Purchase, and enter the US as George Washington knew it. |
