Nostalgia & History > Toledo to Charleston or Louisville Passenger questionDate: 04/20/17 21:04 Toledo to Charleston or Louisville Passenger question Author: JimBaker A friend asks this question to which I am completely stumped.
My 1935 OGR has been no help. ICW- A B&O to Louisville & Nashville connection. Train possibly called the "Little George". Q: Did #46 come S. out of Toledo on NYC, or did it COMPETE with the NYC train that meandered S. through Columbus, and Athens, OH, and terminated at Charleston? Thanks for any help you can come up with. James R.(Jim) Baker Whittier, CA Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/20/17 21:05 by JimBaker. L&N, PRR, and MON Louisville passenger trains used Union Station located at 10th & Broadway. No through passenger cars, coaches and/or sleepers, were operated into one depot and transferred to the other. There were no guaranteed connections offered in Louisville between roads operating into different depots. Also, because of the railroads operations, Louisville was just not a place where many passengers would have had to change depots. Further, doing so would not have been easy. There was no limo service between the two depots. The only way a passenger could get from one depot to the other was to take public transportation or a long walk ALLEN.
