Nostalgia & History > Frisco Friday-Wreck Damaged UnitsDate: 04/28/17 10:49 Frisco Friday-Wreck Damaged Units Author: arwye I didn't take this one, but thought it was worthwhile sharing. Only the location of Tulsa Oklahoma was noted on the slide mount. Processing date was November 1974.
Wreck damaged GP7's 574 & 552 along with U25B 807. Hopefully somebody can supply the incident's details. Richard Yaremko Date: 04/28/17 11:39 Re: Frisco Friday-Wreck Damaged Units Author: africansteam Try the DOT Special Collections website - Investigations of Railroad Accidents - 1974.
Cheers, Jack Date: 04/28/17 14:58 Re: Frisco Friday-Wreck Damaged Units Author: NCA1022 Just read the FRA report of the accident. Very interesting and a sobering reminder of how unforgiving TT&TO can be.

Units involved on this FRA Report say at least 3 of the units were GP38's. Ben Date: 04/30/17 19:18 Re: Frisco Friday-Wreck Damaged Units Author: Dachinghwa The two red Frisco units were involved in a head end collision in Springdale, AR on 9-26-76. The Springdale switcher was scrambled for an urgent customer need. Unfortunately the Fayetteville switcher was heading north and the two near Highway 71 in south Springdale, AR. The units had a crew of nine, and five went to the hospital for relatively light injuries. THe two wrecked units were sold to Precision National in December 1976. The cause of the wreck , which was never reported to the ICC, was an error in issuing orders by the Springdale Frisco depot agent.
