Nostalgia & History > 8/86 MKT Parsons KSDate: 04/28/17 16:51 8/86 MKT Parsons KS Author: callum_out Three shots from wandering around Parsons on a typical Midwest gloomy day:
1) GP40 slug set, which had been running on the Chanute cement train 2) With an affinity toward GP40s and like the C&NW the MKT indulged in used bargain power 3) RS3M 153, looking a bit worn but still serviceable Out Date: 04/28/17 17:18 Re: 8/86 MKT Parsons KS Author: icancmp193 As a modeler, I bet that green/yellow paint scheme was a booger to mask and paint!
TJY Date: 04/28/17 17:20 Re: 8/86 MKT Parsons KS Author: callum_out Grrr!!!! So I had an Overland factory paint non-db GP40 pretty much as shown, the yellow needed another
two coats! I started an RS3M and never could get the decals from Walthers, they sent back order slips for over ten years! I gave up modeling a few years back and NOW there's plenty of models coming straight from the factory.

It was such a booger to paint that MKT had units delivered with a plain yellow nose and cab and did the stripes themselves.
