Here's an old series I thought was interesting with the diverse power and backlighting.
The train is a typical lumber heavy freight with 5 on the point and a 2 unit helper. The
5th unit on the point is SD9E number 4415 and it's not just along for the ride. One of the
only things I can remember from this outing is that with all of the different types of
engines and all at full throttle the 4415 could be clearly heard amidst all of the other
locomotives. I'm not sure where this old but still very capable engine was headed on this
summer evening a couple of months before the UP merger, but it was probably one of if not
the last time it crossed the Cascades. Seeing this old guy working up the grade was a great
way to end the day.
