On Saturday, April 30, 1988, I made the attached photo of a westbound Norfolk Southern inter modal freight just east of the Bishops Lane crossing in Louisville KY. The numberboards on the lead unit #3311 indicate that it was equipped to control remote units. Numberboards on control units had black numbers on a white field. (Can’t remember if this train actually had a remote unit.) Nevertheless, at the time I took this photo, the train was in the process of switching at the Intermodal Terminal. Through trains picked up and dropped off cars there. Trains terminating in Louisville simply dropped cars there.
