Conrail 4800
Author: BobE

I found a couple of slides taken by the late Gerry Landau. Conrail 4800 appears in two different schemes----July 1976 and June 1978.

Refresh what's left of my memory. Wasn't this unit riveted, the only one and also the only one ever to get Conrail's blue paint?

TIA

BobE

Yep. That's Old Rivets and I think you're right being the only one to wear CR blue paint. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRR_4800.

And it has been repainted into Pennsylvania livery and is preserved at the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum in Strasburg, PA>

Actually the 4800 right now is in black primer. It was in original style PRR paint a few years back but they had to do some PCB remediation so all the interior and exterior paint was removed. It is next on the list for a full cosmetic restoration. --- Ken
