Author: SPDRGWfan Or those lights were turned sideways temporarily while being worked on as not to confuse trains passing under the signal bridge, or for a parallel track that was removed or hasn't been added yet.

Date: 05/24/17 08:59 Re: What Was This Signal For in Oakland, CA? Author: ble692 Google Maps street view narrows it's installation down to sometime between April 2008 and April 2011. I was guessing around 2010 before I looked, so somewhere in that range. As was already mentioned, the signals turned sideways are for future plans, and have never been in service or had track beneath them. All of the track and signal work there was occurring as part of the I-880 bridge replacement program that seemed to go on for years.
