I just LOVED it when that was current events and running on the high iron. Thank you so very much for this turn-back-the-clock trip back in time. That was such a lovely and enjoyable time in western railroading. --- Daniel Date: 05/27/17 15:02 Re: UP freight - going away - in Wyoming -- Nov 76 Author: Bob3985 Hmmm, might have been the eastbound BAV.

I can't remember the SP/UP Overland Route symbols from 40+ years ago, but figured the trailer train had probably come into Ogden with the rear three units for power while on the SP.
Those were certainly the glory days for the Overland Route, when SP/UP were still exchanging traffic through the Ogden Gateway - good stuff, and thanks for the post. Date: 05/27/17 20:21 Re: UP freight - going away - in Wyoming -- Nov 76 Author: SPDRGWfan Dilworth Wrote:

You can tell because the fuel tank is short like an SD35.

Hello, The train was most likely the BAX, the "Bay Area Manifest", a hot eastbound SP-UP-BN runthrough train. The extra power was probably on the train to reposition it back to No. Platte to cover westbound trains anticipated in the coming days. UP often used their eastbound hotshots for that purpose since it got the power back east faster than on normal trains. Take care, Mark Date: 05/28/17 18:18 Re: UP freight - going away - in Wyoming -- Nov 76 Author: fresno mamfahr Wrote:
