Date: 05/28/17 09:57 Re: Track Laying in Como, Colorado Author: dan spent the night reading some of silver rails, a new book about Leadville rr's. When the Q bought the C&S they mothballed boreas pass for a couple years, lucky it lasted as long as it did. Prior to that snow would shut the line down for 80 days. Shows them taking the rails up in como in front of the station.
another new book out is summit county's narrow gauge rr's Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/28/17 17:20 by dan. Date: 05/28/17 15:04 Re: Track Laying in Como, Colorado Author: wpjones The image on google already shows the track that has been laid. Wow
Steve Date: 05/28/17 20:00 Re: Track Laying in Como, Colorado Author: meixel Google is showing the track from last year. We did lay some new track yesterday but we spent most of our time lowering a high part of the track near the fence. We had to jack up the track and dig out from other it. We also put ballast and cinders under portions to level the track. Next time we hope to lay more track.

Date: 05/30/17 04:24 Re: Track Laying in Como, Colorado Author: meixel Most of the rail is 75 pound. We are dragging it around with a pickup truck. Then 4 of us get on one end, with two rail tongs, and drag it on top of the ties and slide it into position.
