Much of the L&NE in NJ is a hiking trail. Date: 06/13/17 07:55 Re: Lehigh & New England 1-26-1959 Author: refarkas Thanks for helping make the L&NE come alive again.
Bob Date: 06/13/17 08:29 Re: Lehigh & New England 1-26-1959 Author: icancmp193 At age 10 I was almost too young to remember the demise of the L&NE, except the portion that lived on operated by the CNJ.
But nevertheless, I miss it! Nice photos! TJY Date: 06/13/17 09:30 Re: Lehigh & New England 1-26-1959 Author: gcm Rare shots of this line.
Thanks for posting. Gary Date: 06/13/17 10:20 Re: Lehigh & New England 1-26-1959 Author: boejoe Photo #1 at Goshen shows the train crossing the double track Erie line (used by passenger trains) and heading to the large New Haven yard at Maybrook. The rear of the train can be seen in the distance. Erie freight trains generally used the Graham cut-off to bypass Middletown, Goshen, etc with easier grades.

I was in elementary school when they were taken. Thanks for posting. ALLEN Date: 06/13/17 15:18 Re: Lehigh & New England 1-26-1959 Author: beertrain Great shots. I hope you have more to post. I'm just curious, how much of a passenger operation did the L&NE have?
Date: 06/13/17 16:22 Re: Lehigh & New England 1-26-1959 Author: Lackawanna484 Following the demise of the L&NE, the Erie took over part of the other's line's rght of way. The Erie branch from Goshen down to Pine Island NY was originally L&NE main line.

I thought it was always Erie with LNE rights to Maybrook much like the sourthern end in NJ on the NYSW(another Erie property back when). In 1926, L&NR offered service between Tamaqua and Nesquehoning, and between Bethlehem and Pen Argyl, and from Hainesburg NJ to Campbell Hall NY. The missing links suggest this was truncated from more robust services by May of 1945, the official guide described them as freight service only. But I believe they operated some off the books employees service to mines in the ara. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/13/17 18:05 by Lackawanna484. You are correct - Erie Pine Island branch. Posted from Android Date: 06/14/17 05:12 Re: Lehigh & New England 1-26-1959 Author: njmidland L&NE passenger service was always a minor thing. It's predecessor, the Pennsylvania, Poughkeepsie & Boston had some level of through service, but the L&NE had service over the the 3 segments Beertrain mentions, except the third segment was only from Swartswood Jct., NJ to Campbell Hall, NY - service between Swartswood Jct. and Hainesburg (Jct.) required a connection with an NYS&W train.
All L&NE passenger service was discontinued by 1935.
