Nostalgia & History > Roarin' Elgin Rides Again...Date: 06/14/17 20:57 Roarin' Elgin Rides Again... Author: kevink ...at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL.
IRM has an impressive collection of interurban and street cars that lets them assemble some pretty cool train to haul museum visitors on its mainline. On Memorial Day, Chicago, Aurora and Elgin wood cars #36 and #319 were paired for the day. 1. CA&E 36 waits for the first run of the day at the depot. 2. Later, CA&E 319 basks in the afternoon light while the museum's steam train waits on the adjacent track. The CA&E train will head east in a few minutes. 3. I decided to head east to the Seeman Road grade crossing to get the 319 and 36 on their way west in a classic Midwest interurban scene. The track in the background is the Union Pacific Belvidere Sub Date: 06/15/17 00:55 Re: Roarin' Elgin Rides Again... Author: mp51w Beautiful! I "have" to get up there this year!

The 701 car in the center (second-hand to the Aurora and Elgin), was a veteran of the Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis Railway, which had been abandoned in the 1930s. Art House Gettysburg, Pa.
