Very early Amtrak. PRRFan Date: 06/20/17 06:47 Re: How did Amtrak miss this heritage paint scheme? Author: march_hare Actually, THE earliest Amtrak repaint scheme, if memory serves. Only 1 or 2 were done, both assigned to the Broadway.
Date: 06/20/17 06:58 Re: How did Amtrak miss this heritage paint scheme? Author: aehouse I believe there was only one, and it was painted so that Amtrak could have a locomotive to display for media purposes on its first day, 1 May 1971. The paint scheme was never replicated or standardized.
The image of this engine, and another of a model named Patty Boyd ("the Amtrak girl") in a semi-cheeescake pose in an office setting, were widely displayed in print media on 1-2 May 1971. I worked with her fairly often on 11/14 out of LA in the mid-80's. She was a train attendant.
