Nostalgia & History > Sorting Out 6 Photos of 2 Nebraska JunctionsDate: 06/23/17 21:17 Sorting Out 6 Photos of 2 Nebraska Junctions Author: MartyBernard In May of 1980 Roger Puta did some fanning of the BN in Nebraska. He took photos of 2 junctions, all on the same roll of film. I'd like a little help sorting them out.
1. BN Orleans Junction, NE 2 and 3. Are these also Orleans Junction? If not, where? 4. BN Oxford Junction, NE, right? 5. BN Oxford Junction, NE 6. BN Oxford, NE Depot Thanks, Marty Bernard Date: 06/23/17 21:18 Re: Sorting Out 6 Photos of 2 Nebraska Junctions Author: MartyBernard Date: 06/23/17 21:46 Re: Sorting Out 6 Photos of 2 Nebraska Junctions Author: Railpax71 Went to Orleans, Nebraska on google maps and there is a wye which looks like pictures 2 and 3. On maps you can go to Oxford and see the depot still standing, and the junction east of town.

If no trains stop, that should be plenty of capacity! Track also looks different as one looks like main line whereas rest look to be branchlines? Like these kinds of shots showing plant.

I'm waiting for someone who knows the territory to speak up. Marty Date: 06/24/17 12:19 Re: Sorting Out 6 Photos of 2 Nebraska Junctions Author: callum_out #2 is Oxford Jct, the Q/BNSF mail curves into the line from Orleans which is straight.#1 as far as angle does look to be
Orleans Jct though it sure doesn't look like that today, #4 looks right for Oxford Jct looking North, #5 basically is the same view looking South. Now #3 almost looks like Flynn Jct which is West of Orleans Jct though it could also be Orleans Jct West of the road crossing. As I said, doesn't look the same today, there's a missing road in most of these shots. Out Date: 06/24/17 14:08 Re: Sorting Out 6 Photos of 2 Nebraska Junctions Author: callum_out |
