Nostalgia & History > Magic City of the PlainsDate: 06/28/17 17:07 Magic City of the Plains Author: Bob3985 That is the city motto here in Cheyenne. For no matter which direction you come into Cheyenne, you top a hill and there the city is sitting in a bowl in the landscape. Thus the "Magic City of the Plains as it magically appears out of nowhere.
So here is the majestic depot that the Union Pacific built here in Cheyenne to welcome the visitors arriving on their passenger trains. A majestic depot for the magic city. It stands today housing a number of offices, a museum and a designer brew pub. Trains still change crews next to the depot in the newer yard office since the UP vacated the depot a number of years back. Donuts, sandwiches, food, and undoubtedly quite a few steam engines.

graet to see the old depot in the very good condition. I don't like the big fence araund it. Not good for taking good pics of train including the depot. Wish a great weekend for you in the plains. I don't mind the fence as the other alternative would have been to move or demolish the depot. Wiesersehen, Bob Krieger (Krüger) Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY |
