Nostalgia & History > Consists That Made Santa Fe FunDate: 07/03/17 19:45 Consists That Made Santa Fe Fun Author: BNSF-6432 Even though I wasn't around in the early 70's, looking back on some of Frank Tribbey's captures in the Oklahoma City area is certainly fun to look at. Most particularly the Santa Fe who had the busier line in the area with traffic moving from Kansas City to Fort Worth. Here's a few random shots of some Santa Fe freights around Oklahoma City, OK in the early 1970's.
1) A mix of seven F's guide a train over the Oklahoma River near downtown OKC 2) Crossing over the Rock Island and Frisco is a southbound freight with more trailers on the lead 3) Not sure of this exact location but I believe somewhere south of downtown with three pinstriped units using some freshly laid rail Date: 07/03/17 19:51 Re: Consists That Made Santa Fe Fun Author: BNSF-6432 4) Possibly in the area of Moore, OK, another long string of blue and yellow units led by a GP30 pass Frank in the winter of 1970
5) A power shuffle going on here as 10 units take a southbound through downtown Oklahoma City 6) Leaving downtown, an ABBB set of F's take a freight down the main Frank Tribbey photos PQM Edited 1 time(s). Thanks very much for posting. ALLEN Date: 07/04/17 08:44 Re: Consists That Made Santa Fe Fun Author: tomstp Those freight and passenger units mixed began to happen more and more after Amtrak was born. While before that it was rarely seen at least down here in Ft Worth.
