Nostalgia & History > MRL Missoula, MT, DepotDate: 07/13/17 04:16 MRL Missoula, MT, Depot Author: cozephyr Montana Rail Link first light with MRL 252, SD40-2XR and 260 at Missoula, Montana. Former Northern Pacific Missoula depot appears well maintained. The current depot, which was completed in 1901, was designed by noted architects Reed and Stem of St. Paul, Minnesota, in a simplified Renaissance Revival style of architecture.
The depot is constructed in brick, with a terra cotta tile roof. It features a main three-story structure flanked by one story wings on each side. The main structure is divided by brick columns into six bays, with the outer four columns on each side sporting the Northern Pacific black and red yin-yang logo. 2-MRL 260 & 252 in foreground. Retired Northern Pacific 1356, 4-6-0 Baldwin built in 1902, is displayed near the former Northern Pacific Missoula, Montana, depot. NP class S-4. Edited 1 time(s).
